The ICFA will explore, plan and present a full historical and
contemporary range of both scholarly and popular cultural topics
in an entertaining and educational format. Innovative events will
deal with the fine arts, architecture, design, music, dance, language
and literature, fashion, food, film, theater, archeology and history.
The cultural programs and events will be chosen to reach a broad
spectrum of New York City’s population and visitors. The ICFA
is particularly sensitive to the heritage of Italian Americans and
to Italian citizens living in America.
The ICFA will seek financial assistance from both public and private
sources and the Board will be instrumental in securing funding opportunities.
The Board will appoint executive and advisory committees in order
to access and initiate exhibits and programs, collaborative efforts
and fundraising activities. The advisory committees will be comprised
of scholars of the arts, professionals in various disciplines, curriculum
development and arts education practitioners, local business leaders
and others who demonstrate commitment and faith in Italy’s
culture and its relevance to our lives. Initially, the ICFA staff
will consist of an Executive Director, an administrative assistant
and interns drawn from colleges and universities in the NYC metropolitan
area. The staff will eventually include a Development Director,
an Exhibitions Manager, and Programs Coordinator.
